I Try NuLids! Dry Eye Treatment

Cleansing and massaging the eyelids are important aspects of any dry eye routine. Until recently, the at-home therapies were limited to lid scrubs and warm compresses. NuLids gives us an at-home option that is more sophisticated and easier to use than traditional means and today we’ll discuss the device and how it works.

Welcome back to Eye school with me, Dr. D where I teach you about products and treatments related to dry eye syndrome and eye beauty so you can have healthy, beautiful, comfortable eyes.

Say Goodbye To Dry Eye

The NuLids System treats dry eye disease and blepharitis caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. This condition often worsens over time. NuLids is clinically proven to be safe and effective for removal of biofilm and scurf that occlude the openings of the meibomian glands. Scurf is just a funny word for the debris, bacteria, and dead skin cells.

These glands are responsible for producing the lipid layer of the tear film. In studies, lipid deficiency is the leading cause of dry eye disease (86% of all cases). In addition, the gentle massaging action of the NuLids Daily Disposable Tip may stimulate capillary perfusion at the lid margins and contribute to overall better eyelid health.

UNBOXING

  • The NuLids hand piece is rechargeable and requires no power cord to use. Once charged, the handpiece should last for hours of use between charges.

  • Change out daily… DO NOT REUSE ANY NULIDS DAILY DISPOSABLE TIP after completing your daily treatment. By the way NuLids kind of looks like an electric toothbrush; this is like the electric eye brush version of an electric toothbrush. So when

  • should you change out the tips on these? You have to do it daily! So each of these is literally disposable for one time use. You don't want to reuse any of the NuLids daily disposable tips.

  • After completing your treatment they include the NuLids Revitalize EyeLid Gel that has been formulated exclusively as a natural lubricant to be used with the NuLids System.

  • Yes, you can recycle your tips! All materials used to make the NuLids Soft Tip are recyclable, and we encourage you to recycle them. If you're already recycling your daily contact lenses through um biotrue or boston loam's terracycle program I would just throw them in with your contact lenses.

Eye Doctor NuLids™ Review

Patients typically notice a distinct improvement in comfort and a significant reduction in their dry eye symptoms often in the first month of use. When used as directed, many patients report a noticeable improvement in about 8-10 days.

So that's about how long you should expect it to take for it to work. The NuLids therapy takes about one minute a day and should be done consistently once daily. We've talked here on my blog and on my channel before about the consistency aspect and how that's so important for dry eye.

In the video attached to this blog, you can watch me go ahead and use the NuLids device. Just to warn you I have makeup on because I had been filming all day and I saved this video for last that day. My first step was to remove my makeup with an eyes are the story makeup removing wipe and then I got close to the camera and cleansed my lids with the the NuLids device.

By the way I'm told it can work as a makeup remover as well but I'm going to use this eye friendly makeup removing wipe from eyes are the story because I love them. This is one of their most amazing products you can get from their website with a facial serum and facial cleanser that are both eye safe.

I used their revitalizing eye gel and cleansed my eyelids with NuLids; it was super easy, super simple. I like that the gel doesn't really have a smell to it. Also, it doesn't have tea tree oil in it or anything that would be irritating to the eyes. The actual treatment is really like an electric toothbrush for your eyelids. You can see in the video that my mascara debris is on the device but it removed my eye makeup really really well. I love that about it! Overall I think this is definitely a consideration for your at-home

care if you have blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction.

It was a very tolerable treatment, and I liked it. I want to thank NuLids for sending me this device. Full disclosure; they did send it to me at no charge and in exchange for a video about it, so I appreciate that because it helps me in getting this information out to you guys.

Let me know in the comments below if you’ve had a chance to try the at-home NuLids device for dry eye.
